The story of Dominator Canterbury stretches back over three decades, starting in the 1980s when Bob Gardiner Garage Doors became one of the first Dominator dealerships in New Zealand. Back then, tilt doors were standard, and roller doors were the latest innovation. Times have certainly changed!
Bob’s son-in-law, Carl, joined Bob in the early 2000’s and the business was rebranded as Dominator Access Systems. After a successful corporate career, Carl’s wife Lynda also returned to the garage door world working alongside Carl to support and grow the business.
What began as a family business has since evolved into a thriving dealership with a strong reputation across Christchurch. In recent years, the company underwent another transformation as the ownership team grew, welcoming Mark and Natasha Rippin as business partners to support the dealership’s rapid growth and to expand its leadership capabilities.
Together, the team is continuing to build on a legacy that blends hands-on experience, a long-term vision, and a genuine commitment to their local community.
The business has seen strong growth over the past 10 years and is continuing to grow across the Canterbury region while ensuring they keep delivering exceptional service to both new and long-standing customers.

Dominator Canterbury is led by four hands-on directors: Carl and Lynda Malloch and Mark and Natasha Rippin, who bring a balance of experience, drive, and shared values to the business. Carl manages the installation and service team, while Lynda oversees the office and customer experience. Mark and Natasha focus on sales, marketing, and business growth, helping to guide the dealership’s continued expansion.
They’re supported by a dedicated team, including Mali on customer services and Paula in finance, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. The installation and service crew bring the final piece of the puzzle, turning plans into reality with reliable, professional on-site work.
